Students and staff at Oxford College are getting used to seeing blue and yellow walls and new classrooms. It is all part of a major new expansion and renovation plan at the college.
“It’s a new fresh change,” says Mohammed Mazharuddin, better known as Mazhar, the new Marketing Director of Oxford College. “We wanted to give the interior of our campus a look and brand that will tell everyone this is Oxford College.”
The main development is the addition of a third wing to the college. Named the Business Wing, this will add several new classrooms, labs and another computer lab. The Pharmacy Assistant, Early Childcare and Personal Support Worker programs will all have dedicated rooms located there. Another major upgrade is the expansion of the student lounge, which will be renamed Alumni Hall in recognition of our graduates. It will feature the photos of past college valedictorians.
“The colours of blue and yellow throughout the college,” says Mazhar, “represent leadership and a brighter future. This will add a dynamic new look to our growing college.”
Also seeing upgrades are the library, which is being renamed the Student Resource Centre, and the Main Reception area. The college has also created a Career Centre, which is set to open this month and will assist students with job placements. The college is also preparing to redesign much of its exterior, including increasing signage. “When you enter Oxford College,” Mazhar adds, “we want to provide you with the Oxford Experience – including our redesigned facilities, quality education and most importantly a memorable learning experience.”
The additional classrooms and upgrades will allow Oxford College to meet the increasing demand by students for high quality post-secondary education throughout the Greater Toronto region.
