Histology and Embryology

Course Description: Students will study histology and embryology as it relates to dental hygiene. Components and development of tissue, teeth, membranes and the oro-facial complex will be explained. Students will understand the eruption process.

Dental Hygiene Pre-Clinic III

Course Description: This course will allow students to develop their didactic skills and apply the knowledge they have acquired from their theory courses.  Students will begin to practice instrumentation technqiues in this course. In this final Pre-Clinic course, students will demonstrate the application of the dental hygiee process of care on a peer.

Periodontology II

Course Description: Students will study the importance of plaque control for the periodontal client. Therapy options, including surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy, are explained.

Periodontology I

Course Description: Students will study the etiology and progression of periodontal disease in this course. Stages of periodontal disease play a large role in the clinical assessment and treatment planning for client treatment.

Dental Hygiene Theory IV

Course Description: The theoretical background for the techniques used in clinical practice will be provided in this course. The areas that will be covered are restorative services, local anesthesia, administering nitrous, prosthetic services, endodontic services, surgical services, services, and geriatric clients.

Dental Hygiene Clinic II

Course Description: This course will allow stuents to continue to implement and perfect the skills they learned in their pre-clinic and Clinic I courses. Students will provide dental hygiene interventions following the scope of practice standards set by the CDHO and CDHA.
