Community Dental Health I

Description: The importance of community health in Canada and Ontario will be taught in this course.  The agencies that are available and the role of the dental hygienist in these agencies will be explained.  Students will also address the epiddemiology of dental disease.

Dental Hygiene Theory III

Description: The theoretical background for the techniques used in clinical practice will be provided in this course.  The area that will be covered in orthodontics.

Dental Hygiene Pre-Clinic II

Description: This course will allow students to develop their didactic skills and apply the knowledge they have acquired from their theory courses.  Students will begin to practice instrumentation technqiues in this course.

Computer Applications and Skills

Description: Students will learn the principles of composition along with grammar and punctuation skills. Students will improve their writing skills and focus on clear organized writing.  Students will summarize, examine, and discuss material from various sources including research papers and use APA formatting in references.

Anatomy and Physiology

Description: This course explains the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Students will learn about the structure and function of the components of the different body systesm in health.

Dental Hygiene Theory II

Description: The theoretical background for the techniques used in clinical practice will be provided in this course.  The areas that will be covered are collecting and reviewing client information, the dental hygiene care plan, coronal polishing, dental impression procedures, fluoride application procedures, rubber dam, pit and fissure sealants, topical anesthetic, desensitizing agents, and whitening agents.

Dental Hygiene Theory I

Description: The theoretical background for the techniques used in clinical practice will be provided in this course.  The areas that will be covered are dental equipment, operator and client positioning, oral evacuation system and instrumentation.
